A clean Post-mortem version
After a long period of inactivity on this project, I have decided to wrap it up in the form of a post-mortem, as I feel it is a game that I loved just as it turned out. I also decided to include and modify several things based on the feedback I received from friends and people who tested the game during the #lowrezjam. Below is a list of additions and changes in this version:
-
[Add] Controls section (Game Menu) that redirects to the game tutorial screen.
-
[Add] Credits section (Game Menu) as a screen with some temporary sprites.
-
[FIX] A weird behavior with the tutorial and the Scene Manager.
-
[Add] A learning page explaining the rock-paper-scissors (ya-ken-po) system.
-
[Add] Back callback to the main menu.
-
[Add] Game Mode menu with three options: Arcade (Singleplayer), Versus (PvP), and Learn (wip tutorial).
-
[Add] Arcade mode (single player) with AI character auto-selection.
-
[Add] AI will send actions during every cycle to simulate a proper fighter.
-
[Add] AI validations will show a random answer to every action cycle on time.
-
[Add] Some Versus Mode validations.
I hope this will provide a more optimal and complete experience. I have the idea of utilizing more memory banks to introduce more characters, scenarios, and music. This game has provided me with a lot of knowledge, and the process has been fun. Perhaps in the future, I should create a fighting game or something similar; this project will surely serve as inspiration.
Have fun and enjoy, everyone!
